winning big with the Ball Bustas and Mike Vick

there are a few moments that are supposed to be "the biggest moments of your lives". i'm sure that my married friends would say that their biggest moment was when they said "i do" and i know that my friends with kids would say that their most memorable moment was when their child entered the world (side note: if you're married with kids, is the wedding or birth of your child more important?).

well, i'm not married and i'm not a father so the highlight film of my life doesn't include any umbilical cords or wedding cake.

the second-biggest moment of my life actually happened on Tuesday night. yes folks, The Nicki Minaj Appreciation Society won the Statesman's fantasy football league.

i've won a fantasy football league before but this was the ultimate win because it was in the Statesman league (i had finished as high as second in my three previous seasons) and a hefty $610 payout was on the line. i went into the 4th quarter of Philly's game against Minnesota on Tuesday night with a 17-point deficit but the trio of Michael Vick, LeSean McCoy and Adrian Peterson rallied and lifted me to a 11-point win. cha. ching.

yes, i have dog-killing Mike Vick on my fantasy team and, you know what, i'm alright with it. because while he murdered dogs, he also murdered my fantasy opponents this season. he paid his debt to society so i'm willing to hold off on the execution talk and besides, everyone knows that i'm more of a cat person anyways...

so i won $610 for the championship game conquest and i collected $760 in total winnings this fall. i spent $145 on my fantasy team. i'm no mathematician so Chastity or MK might have to help me out on this one but i think that i came out on top. Best Buy, here i come.

i have bragging rights in the newsroom for a year. i plan on abusing those rights.

i mentioned earlier that this was the second-biggest moment of my life. the biggest? Free North's victory over a team full of my residents in the University of Montana's 2006 intramural softball championship. that team was the greatest team to ever play intramural softball at the University of Montana. yea, i said it.

speaking of winning and intramural softball, the Ball Bustas also won something recently:

we went 5-1 during our fall season and were awarded this trophy for our efforts. not exactly sure what this bling is for (we finished in a tie atop our standings) but i'm just going to assume that we were awarded bonus points for our awesome jerseys.

the Ball Bustas probably won't play again until April but when we do, we'll be aiming for a city title. and if we win that, that will become the greatest moment of my life.

Queen, play us out.
